Baker boys JV defeats Ekalaka Bulldogs

The boys JV basketball team had a great night against Ekalaka on Dec. 17, finishing the evening with a score of 46-19.

Garrett Lesh was the high point man for the Spartans with 10 points and 3 rebounds. Bryant O’Connor followed with 8 points and 9 rebounds. There were 3 players with 6 points each: Guy Lesh who pulled down 3 rebounds, Nathan Schallenberger with 3 rebounds, and Jaxson Tronstad. Walker Hadley contributed 4 points and 3 rebounds to the Spartan victory. Ethan Gundlach and Rory Lingle each had 3 points, with Ethan getting 6 rebounds and Rory had 3 steals.

Varsity basketball

The Lady Spartan Varsity basketball team had a great matchup with the Carter County Bulldogs on Dec. 17. In a nail-biter of a game, the Lady Spartans prevailed with a final score of 40-37.

Three Spartans tied for most points, 9 points, for the game: senior Halle Burdick who also had 1 assist, 8 rebounds and 5 steals; sophomore Emily Shumaker who had 1 assist and 3 rebounds; and Anika Ploeger, who claimed 1 assist, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Macee Hadley had a total of 6 points, with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Mya Hadley put up 6 points and had 1 assist and 6 rebounds. Shelby Moore scored 1 point for the Spartans and had 7 rebounds and 2 steals. While they didn’t score for their team, the following ladies were instrumental in the victory: Peyton Janeway had 2 rebounds and 1 steal and Rilee Pettersen had 4 rebounds.

JV basketball results

The JV girls basketball team had a great showing against the Carter County Bulldogs on Dec. 17, defeating them 43 to 24.

The Spartans were led by Harlee Graham, who had a total of 10 points, 1 assist, 4 rebounds and 6 steals. Rilee Pettersen and Makayla Gallegos each had 9 points, while Rilee had 1 assist, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Makayla ended the night with 5 rebounds. Sophia Dulin scored 5 points and had 1 assist, 1 rebound, and 4 steals. McKenna Griffith and Alex Williams finished the night with 4 points each; McKenna also had 5 rebounds while Alex had 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Eve Uecker scored 2 points for the Spartans and had 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Ashyln Lutts did not score, but she finished the evening with 1 assist and 2 steals.

Baker JV boys lose To Lodge Grass

The Boys JV team lost to Lodge Grass on Thursday, December 19 with a final score of 54-64. Jaxon Tronstad led the Spartans with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. Garret Lesh followed closely behind in scoring with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals. Logan Graham contributed 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals to the Spartan’s attempt to defeat Lodge Grass. Bryant O’Connor also finished the evening with 7 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Scoring 6 points, Guy Lesh also had 8 rebounds, while Nathan Schallenberger put up 5 points and had 5 rebounds and Ethan Gundlach also scored 5 points and had 3 rebounds. Finishing out the scoring for the Spartans was Walker Hadley with 1 point.

Boys C Squad defeats Lodge Grass

The Boys C Squad basketball team played an excellent game against Lodge Grass on Dec. 19. The final score was 52-45. Nathan Schallenberger was high point man for the Spartans with a total of 23 points and 9 rebounds. Ethan Gundlach put in 10 points for his team, and had 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Guy Lesh finished the evening with 7 points and 4 rebounds. Bryant O’Connor contributed 6 points and accumulated 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Walker Hadley scored 4 points, while Cayden Craig had 2 points for the evening. Helping out were Rory Lingle with 4 rebounds and 3 steals and Jonathan Reetz with 2 steals. What a great way to end the year and begin Christmas break.
