Baker hosts Wolf Point Wolves

Baker hosted the Wolf Point Wolves on Jan. 10. The C-Squad lost a very close match with a final score of 45-50. Nathan Schallenberger, the high point man with 16 points, claimed 12 rebounds and 2 steals. Next in scoring was Ethan Gundlach with 8 points; Ethan snatched 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Bryant O’Connor scored 7 points for the Spartans and had 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Guy Lesh and Rory Lingle each contributed 4 points; Guy had 8 rebounds, 5 steals, and was credited with 2 assists while Rory had 4 steals. Rounding out the scoring with 2 points each were Walker Hadley with 2 rebounds, Jonathan Reetz and Colin Lorbiecke with 2 rebounds.  

The Baker boys JV team defeated Wolf Point in a very close game, with a final score of 46-41. Jory Miller claimed high point honors for the evening with 13 points and 3 rebounds. Tying for second place honors with 8 points each were Bryant O’Connor and Jaxson Tronstad; Bryant had 2 rebounds while Jaxson finished the evening with 3 rebounds. Garrett Lesh scored 7 points for the Spartans and brought in the most rebounds, with a total of 9 to help his team achieve the win. Nathan Schallenberger and Logan Graham each had 4 points, while Nathan snagged 4 rebounds and Logan had 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Guy Lesh finished out the scoring for the Spartans with 2 points and 2 rebounds.  

In the boys Varsity game, the Wolves established an early lead and the Spartans weren’t able to overcome it, despite their best efforts. At the end of the first quarter the Wolves led 11 to 3; at halftime the scoreboard read 30 to 21 in favor of the Wolves. The Spartans outscored the Wolves in the third quarter 18 to 11, but the fourth quarter saw the Wolves outscoring the Spartans 18 to 13; the final score for the evening was 59-47 in favor of Wolf Point. High point man for the evening was Teight Madler, with a very impressive 22 points. Teight also pulled in 12 rebounds for the Spartans. Caleb Ploeger was second in scoring with a total of 6 points; Caleb had 6 rebounds and 1 steal. Konner Flint and Garrett Lesh each contributed 5 points to the Spartans; Garrett had 2 rebounds. Jacob Wang finished the evening with 3 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Riley O’Donnell, Trent Collins and Jaxson Tronstad each had 2 points, while Riley had 3 rebounds, Trent had 4 rebounds, and Jaxon 2 rebounds. Logan Graham did not score for the Spartans, but he did snatch 1 rebound.  

The boys basketball team traveled to Forsyth on Jan. 11.

The boys JV achieved a very decisive victory over the Dogies with a final score of 37-10. Garrett Lesh led the team to victory with a total of 12 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Jory Miller followed Garrett in scoring, ending the game with 7 points and 2 rebounds. Nathan Schallenberger was next, with 6 points and 4 rebounds. Ethan Gundlach finished the game with a total of 4 points and 4 rebounds. Guy Lesh and Logan Graham each contributed 3 points to the Spartans’ victory and Guy also pulled in 3 rebounds. Bryant O’Connor put in 2 points to help the Spartans defeat the Dogies.  

The boys Varsity faced a tough opponent when they met the Forsyth Dogies; the first half of the game was definitely in favor of the Spartans, as they outscored the Dogies 17 to 15. However, the second half of the game proved to be their downfall, as the Dogies came out on top 32-19 for the half, with a final score of 47 to 36 in favor of the Dogies.  Riley O’Donnell finished the evening with an impressive 18 points; Riley also had 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Jaxson Tronstad contributed 7 points and 1 steal. Pulling in 3 rebounds and 2 steals was Jacob Wang, who had 4 points. Teight Madler was very impressive in snagging 8 rebounds; Teight also had 1 steal and earned 2 points for his team. Konner Flint and Logan Graham also put in 2 points each for the Spartans; Logan had 1 rebound and 1 steal. Caleb Ploeger pulled in 5 rebounds and finished the evening with 1 point. Garrett Lesh and Trent Collins did not score, but Garrett did have 4 rebounds and 1 steal, while Trent had 3 rebounds and 1 steal.  

Baker girls host Wolf Point

On Jan. 10, the Lady Spartans hosted the Wolf Point Wolves. While the JV team handled the Wolves quite easily, the Varsity had a more difficult time.  

The JV game ended with the Spartans on top 36-25.  Two Spartans tied for high point honors, Ashlyn Lutts and Alex Williams both had 7 points; Ashlyn had one assist, 3 rebounds and 3 steals while Alex ended with 1 assist, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Harlee Graham and Rilee Pettersen each scored 6 points, with Harlee being credited with 1 assist, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals and Rilee snagged 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Sophia Dulin followed in scoring with 5 points, 3 rebounds, and an impressive 8 steals. McKenna Griffith put in 3 points for the Spartans and had 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Finishing up the scoring for the Spartans was Eve Uecker with 2 points and 1 rebound. Makala Gallegos did not score for the Spartans, but she did have 4 rebounds for the evening.  

The Lady Spartans Varsity team had a tougher time with the Wolves, losing with a final score of 46-53. Despite outscoring the Wolves in the first quarter 14-6, the Spartans were unable to maintain their momentum and were outscored 9-15 in the second quarter and 7-15 in the third quarter. Leading the Spartans in scoring was senior Halle Burdick, who had 12 points, 2 assists, 9 rebounds, and 6 steals. Halle was followed by sophomore Anika Ploeger, who finished the evening with 9 points, 7 assists, and 2 rebounds. Senior Macee Hadley contributed 8 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in the Spartans’ attempt to defeat the Wolves. Peyton Janeway, a sophomore starter, added 5 points to the Spartans’ final score, along with 1 rebound and 1 steal. Senior Shelby Moore and junior Mya Hadley each scored 4 points; Shelby had 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and 3 steals with Mya had 3 assists and 3 rebounds.  Sophomore Rilee Pettersen put in 3 points and 1 rebound, while sophomore Emily Shumaker added 2 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals.  

Baker girls travel to Forsyth

The Lady Spartan basketball teams travelled to Forsyth to challenge the Dogies on Jan. 11 and came up short in both the JV and Varsity games. The final score for the JV was 40-27. Rilee Pettersen and Eve Uecker ended the game with 7 points each, while Rilee had 2 rebounds and 6 steals and Eve had 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Harlee Graham and McKenna Griffith put in 4 points each during the course of the evening; Harlee had 2 rebounds and 5 steals while McKenna had 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Alex Williams scored 3 points for the Spartans and pulled in 3 rebounds and had 2 steals. Ashlyn Lutts completed the scoring for Spartans with 2 points, 1 rebound, and 2 steals. While they didn’t score, Sophia Dulin and Makala Gallegos ended the evening with 1 rebound, for Sophia and 3 rebounds and 2 steals for Makala.

The Lady Spartan Varsity also had a tough match up with the Forsyth Dogies ending the evening with a final score of 57-24. Once again, senior Halle Burdick laid claim to high point honors, scoring 8 points for her team and ending with 1 assist and 3 rebounds. Sophomore Anika Ploeger was second highest in scoring, with 7 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal. Macee Hadley was next in scoring, with a total of 3 points for the evening, 1 rebound and 2 steals. Shelby Moore, Peyton Janeway and Emily Shumaker each put in 2 points, while Shelby had 4 rebounds, Peyton had 1 assist and 1 rebound and Emily 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

The Baker Spartan Lady C-Squad had a close game with the Wolf Point Wolves and emerged victorious on Jan. 10 with a final score of 39-37. Harlee Graham led the C Squad with a total of 19 points; she also had 4 rebounds and 6 steals. Eve Uecker and Makala Gallegos each scored 6 points for their team; Eve had 2 assists, 8 rebounds and 3 steals while Makala had 6 rebounds and 1 steal. Hallie Flint put in 4 points and had 2 assists and 3 rebounds. Teja Dietz and Faith Hansen both scored 2 points; Teja had 9 rebounds and 2 steals and Faith had 1 assist, 3 rebounds and 1 steal.
