On Sept. 12, the Lady Spartans faced off against the Colstrip Fillies at home.
This was also a special night to honor senior volleyball players, cheerleaders and their parents.
Senior night had a change of date and was moved up earlier this past weekend. This was decided after the realization that events could quickly be cancelled at a moments notice and then Senior Night couldn’t occur.
This change was a relief for parents and their players, as they still received the chance to have this memorable experience this season!
Senior volleyball players this year are Mya Hadley, daughter of Jeff and Josi Hadley; Sady Harbaugh, daughter of Trent Harbaugh, Kelly Thatcher and Donna Gorder; and Macy Varner, daughter of Gye and Chayni Varner. Our senior cheerleader this year is Sydney Kirschten, daughter of David and Nicole Kirschten.
I gathered some thoughts from our senior volleyball players this past week and asked how they are feeling about this upcoming season. Macy Varner commented on the uncertainty of games this year and stated that she definitely doesn’t take any of them for granted. Being that it is her last chance to play, she appreciates every opportunity to play the sport with her peers. Sady Harbaugh elaborated, “I think it’s more stressful this year, because it’s our last year so we want to make it our best.” Mya Hadley also feels strange like the other two and sad that her years of sports are going by too fast. When asked to reflect back on their favorite moment in their volleyball career thus far, all were quite proud of when they beat Colstrip at Divisionals last year in just 3 games! Major team goals these players hope to focus on this season are working on their communication skills on the court and just growing together as a team in order to work better and improve. They are all a little nervous for this season but mostly are just excited and ready to work hard!
