Three BHS wrestlers qualified for state and were able to compete at the state tournament. Led by coaches Eric Kary and Will Bagley, O’Connell Qualley, Damein Nesbitt, and Devon Nesbitt all got a chance to challenge themselves against the best in the state. Senior O’Connell Qualley, heavyweight, wrestled in his first state tournament ever. This was also O’Connell’s first year of wrestling. He had one win and two losses at state; O’Connell commented that he had a lot of fun throughout the season and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. He is hoping to continue wrestling in AAU if his busy schedule permits. Sophomore Devon Nesbitt finished with the same record as O’Connell; one win and two losses. Devon wrestled in the 132 weight class. Sophomore Damien Nesbitt had a very impressive run at state and finished in fourth place overall in the 145 weight class. Damien had a total of three wins and two losses. Both Devon and Damien were excited to get a chance to wrestle at the state level and are looking forward to two more years in the activity. Managers Hope Craft and Mckenzie Davis each enjoyed cheering for their team and helping out in any way possible.
