The Spartan Boys Varsity basketball team put up an admirable fight against the Wolf Point Wolves, outscoring them 19 to 14 in the final quarter, but their best efforts were not enough to overcome the earlier deficits. The Spartans fell to Wolf Point 53-66 on Feb. 8 in Wolf Point.
Senior Caleb Ploeger had an impressive 20 points during the Spartans’ battle with the Wolves, along with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Juniors Teight Madler and Konner Flint tied with 10 points each; Teight also had 1 rebound while Konner had 3 rebounds. Garrett Lesh put in 4 points for the Spartans and pulled down 6 rebounds for the evening.
Jaxson Tronstad finished the game with 3 points and 6 rebounds. Jacob Wang, Trent Collins, and Logan Graham each had 2 points; Jacob also had 6 rebounds, while Trent had 4 rebounds and 2 steals and Logan had 2 rebounds and 1 steal. The Spartans will be at home on Saturday, Feb. 15, when they host St. Labre for their final game before heading to tournaments.
