The Baker Spartans Boys and Girls basketball teams hosted the St. Labre Braves for the final home game of the 2019-20 season. This final game was also Parent’s Night.
The boys’ C-Squad team dominated the Braves and ended the evening with a victory of 66-51. The Spartans were led by Nathan Schallenberger, who put in an impressive 27 points. Ethan Gundlach scored 12 points. Bryant O’Connor was next in scoring with 11 points, while Rory Lingle scored 5 points. Guy Lesh had 2 points, while Jonathan Reetz scored 4 points. Aidan Wyrwas, Guy Lesh and Colin Lorbiecke each put in 2 points to help secure their team’s victory. Owen Stieg put in 1 point for the Spartans. The C-Squad ended their 2019-20 season with a record of 6-9.
The boys’ JV team had a very close game, but ended up losing by 1 point with a final score of 61-62. Garrett Lesh was the leading scorer for the Spartans with 20 points. Logan Graham, Bryant O’Connor and Nathan Schallenberger each scored 8 points for the Spartans. Ethan Gundlach finished the evening with 7 points. Jaxson Tronstad scored 4 points. Jory Miller and Guy Lesh each put in 3 points. The JV squad ended their season with a record of 8-9.
The boys’ Varsity team put up a good fight against St. Labre but were unable to defeat them, ending with a 39-52 loss. Leading scorer for the Spartans was senior Caleb Ploeger, who put up 16 points. Next in scoring was senior Jacob Wang, who finished the evening with 10 points. Senior Teight Madler put in 8 points for the Spartans. Jaxson Tronstad and Konner Flint each had 2 points. Senior Riley O’Donnell had 1 point.
