On Jan. 24, the Baker Spartans hosted the Lodge Grass Indians. The boys followed a close girl’s game with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. The game started with a battle, both teams working hard to get the lead, but the scoreboard showed a tie game at the end of the 1st quarter, 12-12. In the second quarter, Lodge Grass went on a run and the Spartans trailed by 9 at half. The second half showed another fight each team but Lodge Grass started pulling away in the third. In the fourth the Spartans rallied and close the gap. When the buzzer rang the Spartans had lost 51-61 but left the court with heads high, knowing they gave the No. 1 team in the state a run for their money. Senior Caleb Ploeger said, “We left it all on the court and played our best game yet and really came together as a team. We know that we can play with anyone if we put our hearts to it.”

Caleb Ploeger led the team with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Teight Madler followed with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist. Konner Flint finished with 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Jaxson Tronstad had 4 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Garrett Lesh scored 3 points, snagged 6 rebounds, and had 1 steal. Jacob Wang had 1 point, 5 rebounds and 1 steal. Trent Collins grabbed 3 rebounds.
