The Baker boys basketball teams hosted the Miles City Cowboys on Jan. 14 and came away with one win from the JV team and two losses for the C-Squad and Varsity

In the C-Squad game, the Spartans were outscored 29-47. The Spartans were led by Ethan Gundlach, who scored 10 points for the Spartans and pulled in 5 rebounds, had 4 steals and 2 assists. Nathan Schallenberger scored 4 points for his team and snagged 4 rebounds. Ending the evening with 3 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals was Guy Lesh. Rory Lingle, Owen Stieg and Colin Lorbiecke each contributed 2 points, while Rory had 2 rebounds and Colin had 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Finishing the scoring for the Spartans was Bryant O’Connor, who had 1 point and 2 rebounds.

The JV game was a much more satisfying contest for the Spartans, as they prevailed over the Cowboys with a final score of 60-50. Garrett Lesh led his team with an impressive 17 points and 5 rebounds. Nathan Schallenberger followed him in scoring with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Putting in 7 points and snagging 8 rebounds was Ethan Gundlach, followed by Bryant O’Connor and Jaxson Tronstad who each scored 6 points in their team’s victory. Bryant pulled in 4 rebounds while Jaxson had 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Jory Miller finished the evening with 3 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

The Varsity team had hard time getting started, being outscored in the first half 6-30. The Spartans did outscore the Cowboys in the second half 21-14, but they didn’t have enough time to make up the deficit, ending the game with a score of 27-44. Teight Madler and Riley O’Donnell led the Spartans in points, each finishing with 9 points; Teight had 5 rebounds while Riley had 1 rebound and 5 steals. Sophomore Garrett Lesh put in 4 points and had the most rebounds for the Spartans, ending with 7 rebounds and 1 steal. Seniors Caleb Ploeger and Jacob Wang each scored 2 points; Caleb had 2 rebounds and 1 steal while Jacob had 3 rebounds. Trent Collins also contributed 1 point to his team’s effort and had 2 rebounds.
