The High School physics class is currently discussing the difference between distance and displacement. Distance is measured by how far an object travels. Vectors are used to measure both direction and magnitude. They started with problems in the classroom for a mathematical approach. For the lab assignment, they were each given golf balls and clubs to play mini golf. They used their direction and magnitude to aim for the holes! They started at one of the corners in the courtyard and worked their way down dodging the raised beds and logs.
