The Dickinson State University men and women’s track & field teams had six athletes compete for the 2021 NSAA Indoor Track & Field Multi Championships at the DSU Blue Hawk Classic meet.

National rankings

Cleet Wrzesinski is currently leading the nation in the men’s heptathlon with 5040 points. The second-place athlete is Cody Williams from Concordia University, Nebraska with 5030 points. On the women’s side, Wrenzi Wrzesinski is currently sitting 9th in the nation in the women’s pentathlon with 3201 points. Just shy of the top 16 in the nation is Aric Knopik who is currently sitting 18th in the nation with 4330 points.

Women’s results

The Blue Hawks had three athletes compete in the pentathlon. Wrenzi Wrzesinski won the pentathlon finishing the day with winning every event but the 800m run and high jump. Placing second overall was Mackenzie Grubbs finishing with 2736 points and Katya Baranko finished fifth with 2424 points.

60m Hurdles - Wrenzi Wrzesinski placed first with a time of 9.17. Mackenzie Grubbs placed second with a time of 9.52. Katya Baranko placed fifth with a time of 10.66.

High Jump - Katya Baranko won the event with a height of 1.48m (4’10”).  Wrenzi and Mackenzie tied for second place with a height of 1.45m (4’9”).

Shot Put - Wrenzi Wrzesinski won the event with a throw of 10.21m (33’6”). Mackenzie Grubbs placed second with a throw of 8.65m (28’4.5”), and Katya Baranko placed fourth with a throw of 8.34m (27’4.5”).

Long Jump - Wrenzi Wrzesinski won the event with a lead of 5.28m (17’4”).  Mackenzie Grubbs placed third overall with a distance of 4.81m and Katya Baranko jumped 4.40m and placed sixth.

800m Dash - Wrenzi Wrzesinski placed second with a time of 2:41.19, Mackenzie Grubbs placed third with a time of 2:54.55 and Katya Baranko placed fourth with a time of 2:55.57.

Men’s results

On the men’s side the Blue Hawks had three athletes competing in the multi event. Cleet Wrzesinski won the event, Aric Knopik placed fourth overall with 4306 points and Jevon Kreidt placed seventh overall with 2764 points.

60m Dash - Cleet Wrzesinski won the event running a time of 7.19 collecting 816 points. Aric Knopik placed sixth overall with a time of 7.73 and Jevon Kreidt placed 7th with a time of 8.00.

Long Jump - Cleet Wrzesinski won the event jumping a distance of 6.96m (22’10”).  Aric Knopik placed third overall with a jump of 6.46m (21’2.5”), and Jevon Kreidt jumped a distance of 5.83m.

Shot Put - Aric Knopik placed third overall with a throw of 11.58m. Cleet Wrzesinski placed right behind Knopik with a throw of 11.50m and Jevon Kreidt threw a distance of 9.03m.

High Jump - Aric Knopik placed second overall with a jump of 1.88m (6’2”). Cleet Wrzesinski placed third overall with a height of 1.85m, and Jevon Kreidt placed fourth with a jump of 1.76m.

60m Hurdles - Cleet Wrzesinski led the event running a time of 8.47. Aric Knopik finished right behind him with a time of 8.87 and Jevon Kreidt placed sixth overall with a time of 11.96.

Pole Vault - Cleet Wrzesinski placed third overall with a vault of 3.95m, and Aric Knopik placed fifth overall with a height of 3.35m.

1000m Run - Cleet Wrzesinski placed third overall with a time of 2:58.46.  Aric Knopik placed fifth overall with a time of 3:19.91, and Jevon Kreidt ended the day with a time of 3:29.90.
