This year the wrestling Senior Night was Feb. 9, at the Longfellow gym. The matches were against Sidney, Circle and Broadus.
There are two seniors this year, manager Mckenzie Davis, the daughter of Chuck Davis and Polly Davis and Sophia Dulin daughter of Jason and Lisa Dulin. We took some time to ask the seniors some questions regarding their last wrestling season here at BHS.
Mckenzie has been a wrestling manager since she was in middle school. When asked how wrestling has impacted her life, she replied, “I have been able to meet a lot of new people and have made some lifelong friends along the way.´´ Her favorite part about being a manager is when the spotlight is shown on the mat it makes it feel more intense and the crowd gets into it. One of Mckenzie´s favorite memories was when Tarin, Riley, and Jesse flooded their hotel room at the Kelly Inn.
This is Sophia’s first year participating in wrestling and she stated that she joined to try something new and show herself that she could do it. When stating how she gets focused for a match she stated, “I normally listen to music too but honestly as soon as I step into the gym and warm-up, I become pretty focused.” Sophia claimed that wrestling has shown her to keep pushing even when she thinks she can’t. It also has given her a stronger mental toughness to handle difficult situations. Sophia would also like to thank all the people that have helped and supported her throughout her first year of wrestling. They have left a great impact on her life.
