Two South Dakota men were arrested on felony warrants Saturday afternoon a few miles east of Baker on Highway 12.

The Fallon County Sheriff’s Office had received notice that Charles Anthony Stewart, 44 and Austin R. Carroll, 21, both of Aberdeen, SD, may be in the area.

The motor home that the men were driving was spotted after it crossed from North Dakota Saturday afternoon, with the two men taken into custody near mile marker 89 on Highway 12. A juvenile female in the vehicle was later released to relatives.

According to Fallon County Sheriff Trenton Harbaugh, the description of the vehicle came over the radio a few minutes before the 1980s motor home was spotted.

Stewart is facing a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon from an incident that happened Friday in Aberdeen.

Carroll is facing charges of first degree robbery and also aiding and abetting first degree robbery.

According to the Fallon County Sheriff’s Office, the pair will face extradition hearings in early May, depending on court schedules.

“We were assisting Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Aberdeen PD for a forcible felony that occurred in Aberdeen the night before,” Fallon County Undersheriff Nic Eisele said.

Units from the Montana Highway Patrol, Baker Police Department also assisted in the arrest, he added.

The arrest occurred without incident.
