A Red Flag Warning issued has been issued for Fallon County.
The warning was issued by the National Weather Service in Billings at 1:38 p.m. Wednesday and will cover from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday.
Among the predicted impacts of weather Thursday are low humidity, hot temperatures, strong gusty winds. There also is a probability of a winds shift with a cold front which could create erratic fire behavior.
Carter, Custer, Powder River, Rosebud and Treasure counties are included in the announcement with Fallon County.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior, according to the NWS office in Billings.
In the affected areas, winds are predicted to be from 30 to 40 miles per hour with gusts up to 55 miles per hour. The temperatures are predicted to from the upper 80s to the upper 90s. Humidity will be from 10 to 18 percent.
