Acrobats, Speed Juggling, a Clown oh my!

On June 1, the Circus Funtastic came to Baker for a night of fun and games for all ages. The Fallon County Fairgrounds saw a multitude of wild and impressive acts.

The night opened with the troupe dancing their way into the spotlight, performing to the song “The Greatest Show” from the movie “The Greatest Showman.” Members of the audience were able to see a sneak peek into the night’s performances via the myriad of costumes worn by the dance troupe.

The stage was set, and a speed juggler came out from behind the red curtain. He juggled up to eight balls, while running around the stage! Additionally, he juggled bowling pins in all directions, from behind his back to double stacking. Next, a unicycler came to exhibit her unique  skills. She rode a lap around the stage to engage the crowd, and grabbed handlebars to steer her around. She juggled atop her ride, weaved between obstacles, and jumped rope while on her unicycle.

The 100 year tradition of peanuts at the circus continued at the fairgrounds. Some of the bags had tickets for free photos during the intermission with surprise guests.

The clown came to play with the crowd, while the troupe set up for the next performance. They threw balls back and forth, with a few failed attempts. A balancing act like never before, she balanced on skateboards stacked six high on rollers and platforms! She wobbled on the various rollers, but impressed the crowd with her balancing ability.

Hula hooping was taken to a new level, the performer looped the hoops all around her body. She created a human slinky, and twisted them around herself creating a life-size illusion of a bouncing spring. Another acrobat followed this, winding herself around the hoop. With the contemporary movement, she displayed her incredible strength and flexibility.

Next, the audience witnessed a couple manage six outfit changes in five minutes. A man came out spinning prisms and pyramids, twisting around his body as well as straight in the air. With a light dance to lead, a transformer came out from behind the curtain, ending the first act of the night.

With a brief intermission, the audience took pictures with the circus unicorn and transformer on stage. The kids in the audience played in the bouncy house, and had their faces painted!

To open the second act, a different acrobat on the curtains dazzled the audience with her strength and agility! She moved effortlessly around the curtain, despite the wind. Then, the crowd witnessed more intense juggling without dropping a single pin or ball. She bounced the balls behind her back, spun them around, and moved them around on her tiny stage.

Another acrobat took the air, this time spinning around on a hoop. She was lifted into the air, and had contemporary movement in the sky. Marshmallow the Clown joined the crowd once more, this time playing with balloons. Despite the continuous popping of the balloons, and one failed attempt, the balloon was shot by an arrow.

To end the show, the troupe came out dressed as cavemen and women. After a quick dance session, they took to the trampoline. They did flip after flip, and even the clown jumped on the tramp. They took turns flying around the trampoline, and even jumped rope atop the tramp.

The night of fun came to a close, and the audience parted their own ways, each with a new understanding of the amazing skill of the troupe members in Circus Funtastic.
