The Plevna High School Graduation Ceremony was held on May 22, at 2 p.m. Whitney and Wyatt Thielen opened the event by playing Pomp and Circumstance on their violin and banjo, as seniors Dacy Buerkle, Bret Edgell, Jenna Paul, Trinity Rieger and Ashley Sander made their entrance. Mr. Schumacher welcomed everyone to the ceremony, followed by Bret Edgell leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Jenna Paul conferred the Invocation; following this the eighth grade students received their Certificates of Promotion from Trustee Teresa Rieger.
The Keynote Speaker Mr. Sylvan LaCross’ message encouraged the graduates to pursue their careers with a hardworking attitude and sky-high ambitions. Sylvan utilized his personal mistakes, triumphs, and lessons in describing to the students how life decisions greatly affect an individual’s future. He implored the graduating class to enjoy their younger days and left the seniors with a memorable impression. Ms. Boyer announced the scholarships the seniors received after which Mary Lou Ryden from the Lions Club presented scholarships to Dacy Buerkle and Trinity Rieger. Ashley Sander then delivered her Salutatorian Address on being yourself; do what is right for you, after which Mrs. Stockett shared a graduation poem that she had written for this occasion and gave each senior a red rose with a feather. Trinity Rieger presented her Valedictorian Address on looking to the future with a positive attitude. This was followed by a senior video presentation - through the years. The seniors then presented their parents with flowers and hugs as a thank you for helping them reach this point in their lives.
Mr. Schumacher honored the Valedictorian Trinity Rieger and the Salutatorian Ashley Sander as Trustee Rieger presented their awards. The High School Seniors received their diplomas from Trustee Teresa Rieger, after which Mr. Schumacher presented the Class of 2021 as the graduates eagerly moved their tassels. Wyatt and Whitney Thielen played a recessional as the graduates made their way from the ceremony. Congratulations graduates, we expect to see great accomplishments in the years to come!
