On Sunday, Nov. 10 the American Legion Auxiliary celebrated its 100th birthday.
The American Auxiliary generally hosts a dinner every year for Veteran’s Day. This year since the 100th birthday fell the day before Veteran’s Day, they had a dinner to honor our veterans in conjunction with a birthday party.
The celebration began in Baker’s American Legion at 4 p.m. as folks trudged in from the inclement weather to enjoy one another’s company over a dinner of pulled pork, scalloped potatoes, various salads and birthday cake! Initially the feast was only supposed to run until 6 p.m., but with only about 40 people braving the snow and making it down to the Legion, they kept it open later so more people were able to enjoy the meal.
