On Oct. 30, Kylan Klauzer with Positive Choices, came to Plevna School to encourage kids to “Be You”. Klauzer was born and raised in southeastern Montana. He graduated from Baker High School in 2002 and then went on to attend Dickinson State University. While there, Klauzer received his Bachelor’s Degree and eventually a Master’s Degree in Public Administrations. Kylan has been a law enforcement officer for 14 years in Dickinson. His primary duties are to supervise the Criminal Investigative Division. He is currently assigned to serve in roles as the senior SWAT Team Leader, a combatives/use of force instructor and a polygraph examiner. In the fall of 2017, Klauzer graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) National Academy. His passion for speaking to students comes from the harsh realities of his childhood, which taught him about his own individual responsibility and the impact of making positive choices. The kids learned that their choices stack up, whether positive or negative, and determine their future. They learned that what they need to succeed is the ability to make positive choices. The students enjoyed learning about his childhood experiences, and the impact these experiences had on his future choices in life. Mr. Klauzer ended his inspirational speech with his rendition of “Not My Father’s Son”.
