Baker Spartan football hosts Huntley Project Red Devils

On Oct. 4, the Baker Spartans hosted the Huntley Project Red Devils for the fifth game of the season, which was also homecoming. Kickoff was at 7 p.m. and the Spartans received the ball. Baker and Huntley both came out strong and aggressive right away. It was a battle for the ball and  neither team scored in the first quarter. The second quarter was more action packed than the first, with the Spartans scoring on an 8 yard run by Riley O’Donnell and two scores by the Red Devils. At halftime the score was 14-6, Huntley leading.

In the third quarter the Spartans scored again on another run by Riley O’Donnell, to make the score 14-12 with Huntey still in the lead. Baker held the Red Devils scoreless in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter the Spartans were fighting hard to hold Huntley out of the endzone but with a few minutes left they were able to score making the score 20-12. When Baker got the ball back they tried to hustle down and score but were unable to get in the endzone. The Baker Spartans unfortunately lost 20-12 to the Red Devils.

Individual stats include:

Riley O’Donnell lead the team in scoring with an 8 yard touchdown run and a 4 yard touchdown run. Riley also lead the team in rushing yards with 21 carries for 126 yards. Dillon Hickey had 15 carries for 59 yards. Teight Madler had 2 receptions for 27 yards. Jacob Wang lead the team in tackles with 7. Avery Uecker, Dillon Hickey, and Teight Madler each had 5 tackles.
