On Sept. 20, the Baker Spartans traveled to Red Lodge to take on the Rams for the first conference game of the season. Kickoff was at 7 p.m. and the Spartans received the ball. They came out aggressively but failed to gain many yards and were forced to punt. When the Rams got the ball, they were able to drive down and score. The Spartans fought hard all through the first half but unfortunately were held scoreless while the Rams had 35 points. In the second half both teams came out aggressively. The Rams scored once more in the second half, giving them 41 points. Baker kept battling and finally scored in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Riley O’Donnell to Teight Madler.
Individual highlights include:
Teight Madler scored the Spartan’s only touchdown on a pass. Ethan Reichenberg and Ashton Afrank led the team in tackles with 5 each. Garrett Lesh and Riley O’Donnell each had an interception. Konner Flint had a fumble recovery. Trent Collins blocked a PAT. Avery Uecker led the team in rushing with 7 carries for 50 yards. Riley O’Donnell was close behind with 14 carries for 49 yards and Dillon Hickey had 7 carries for 13 yards.
The Spartans will be hosting the Roundup Panthers on Friday, Sept. 27, game time is at 7 p.m.
