The Lady Spartan volleyball teams had a busy week end, traveling first to compete against Lodge Grass and Lame Deer on Sept. 20 and then Huntley Project on Saturday.
Baker vs Lodge Grass
The Lady Indians fell to the Lady Spartans in three sets (25-20), (25-15), (25-13). Shelby Moore led the team in serving with 6 aces. She also led defensively with 11 digs and had 5 kills. Sady Harbaugh followed her with 4 aces and led hitting with 8 kills. Halle Burdick had 3 aces and 6 digs. Mya Hadley served 4 aces, had 2 assists, and 3 digs. Katie Wang had 1 ace, 7 kills, and 3 digs and led in blocking with 1 block. Macee Hadley had 1 ace, 3 kills, 4 digs and led in setting with 14 assists. Peyton Janeway had 2 kills, Macy Varner had 4 digs, and Emily Shumaker had 2 digs.
The Lady Spartans JV also came away with a victory as they defeated the Lady Indians (25-8) (25-11), (15-5). McKenna Griffith led in serving with 7 aces. Camryn Collins led in hitting and blocking with 4 kills and 1 block. Rilee Pettersen led in setting with 6 assists. Emily Shumaker and Harlee Graham led defensively with 1 dig apiece.
Baker vs Lame Deer
In the second match of the night the Spartans faced the Lady Morning Stars. The Spartans dominated the Lady Stars in three sets (25-16), (25-12), (25-17). Mya Hadley led in serving with 4 aces. She also had 3 kills, 1 assist, and 3 digs. Shelby Moore followed her with 3 aces, 5 kills, 1 assist, and led defensively with 12 digs. Emily Shumaker had 1 ace and 4 digs. Halle Burdick had 1 ace and 9 digs. Katie Wang had 4 kills and 2 digs. Macee Hadley had 2 kills, 2 digs and led in blocking and setting with 1 block and 17 assists. Macy Varner had 2 digs and Peyton Janeway served 1 ace, had 2 kills and 1 assist.
The JV squad came out with a good showing by upsetting the Lady Morning Stars in three sets (25-18), (26-24), (15-7). McKenna Griffith led in serving with 7 aces. Camryn Collins led in hitting and blocking with 6 kills and 1 block. Rilee Pettersen led in setting with 9 assists. Anika Ploeger led defensively with 7 digs.
The Lady Spartans traveled to Huntley to compete in the Huntley Tournament. They began the morning with pool play playing Park City, Columbus and Huntley. The Lady Spartans defeated Park City and Columbus in two sets, and lost to Huntley in two sets. The result of the morning’s pool play positioned the Spartans in the gold bracket. The opening match was against Roundup, which they lost (12-25), (16-25). The Spartans then battled against Shepherd losing (16-25), (19-25).
