Spartan football gets sent to the dog house by Scotties

On Sept. 13, the Baker Spartans travelled to Glasgow to take on the Scotties at 7 p.m. The Spartans began the game back to receive and came out Spartan strong on the first drive and after several plays, marched right down the field to a touchdown by quarterback Riley O’Donnell.  The Scotties fought hard and answered with a touchdown of their own. Despite a valiant effort by the Spartans, they were held scoreless throughout the remainder of the first half, while the Scotties managed to put 24 points on the scoreboard. After a good halftime pep talk, the Spartans returned to the field, determined to even the score. While they were successful in holding the Scotties to only 8 points in the second half, the offense was unable to score. The final score for the evening was Glasgow 32 and Baker 6.

Both teams fought and battled but the Spartans were held scoreless through the remainder of the first half while the Scotties managed to get 24 points. After halftime, the Spartans came out strong and held the Scotties to only 8 points in the second half but unfortunately Baker was also held scoreless in the second half. The final score was Glasgow 32 Baker 6.

Riley O’Donnell was the lone scorer for Baker with a 7 yard touchdown run.

Dillon Hickey was the leading rusher with 9 carries for 38 yards and Riley O’Donnell had 15 carries for 34 yards.

Ethan Reichenberg was the leading tackler with 10, O’Connell Qualley was next with 6, and Riley O’Donnell and Kyler Afrank each had 5.

Kyler Afrank also blocked a punt and a sack.

Jacob Wang had 3 tackles as well as a sack.
