Baker Spartans fall to Forsyth Dogies

The Baker Spartans hosted the Forsyth Dogies on Sept. 10. The Spartans failed to knock off the Dogies in a rivalry match (13-25), (13-25), (19-25). “We failed to execute on what we worked on in practice. We now know what we have to do to beat the Dogies in our next match up,” said Katie Wang.

Mya Hadley led the team in serving with 2 aces. She also had 2 kills, 1 block, and 1 assist. Sady Harbaugh led the team in hitting with 5 kills and she also dug 2 balls. Macee Hadley led in assists with 11 and picked up 2 digs and 1 kill. Katie Wang and Peyton Janeway led in blocks with 2 a piece. Katie also had 1 ace, 4 kills, and 1 dig. Peyton had 2 kills and tied for leading defender with three others, Halle Burdick, Shelby Moore, and Emily Shumaker, each had 6 digs. Shelby also had 1 ace, 1 kill, and 1 assist. Macy Varner had 3 digs, and Rilee Peterson had 1.

JV

Sets: (25-17) (25-21) (8-15) (13-15) (13-15)

In a close game, the Lady Spartans JV lost to the Forsyth Dogies. Sophia Dulin led the team in serving with 6 aces. Emily Shumaker and Harlee Graham led in kills with 4 apiece. McKenna Griffith finished with the only block. And Anika Ploeger led defensively with 12 digs.

C-Squad

Sets: (25-16) (25-18) (15-9)

The C-Squad swept the Dogies in three sets. Eve Uecker and Kacee Moore led the team in serving with 4 aces each. Makala Gallegos led in kills with 5. Eve also led in blocks and assists with 1 and 5 respectively. Harlee Graham led defensively with 5 digs.

Lady Spartans fall short to the Lady Braves

On Sept. 13, the Spartans hosted the St. Labre Lady Braves to an exciting conference matchup. The Spartans took the Lady Braves to four sets, but failed to execute a win to St. Labre (23-25) (25-22) (23-25) (18-25). “Our record is currently 1-3 which shows we have many things to improve on. We are learning from our mistakes and hope to be in the running for the conference championship at the end of the season,” stated Shelby Moore.

Macee Hadley led the team in serving and setting with 3 aces and 34 assists. She also had 1 block and 15 digs. Katie Wang led the team in hitting and blocking with 12 kills and 3 blocks. She also picked up 8 digs and served 1 ace. Peyton Janeway led defensively with 19 digs. She also had 8 kills and 1 block. Shelby Moore followed her with 17 digs, 1 assist, 8 kills, and 2 aces. Mya Hadley had 1 ace, 6 kills, 3 assists, and 5 digs. Sady Harbaugh served one ace, hit 7 kills, picked up 4 digs, and had 1 assist. Macy Varner had 11 digs, Emily Shumaker had 2 digs, and Rilee Peterson had 1 dig.

JV

Sets: (25-13) (25-8) (15-2)

The Spartan JV team were successful in defeating the Braves. Emily Shumaker led the team in serving with an impressive 13 aces and hitting with 5 kills. Rilee Peterson led setting with 9 assists and Alex Williams led defensively with 4 digs.

C-Squad

Sets: (25-14) (25-9) (15-4)

The Spartan C squad dominated the Lady Braves. Jacey Gorder led the C-Squad with 8 aces. Harlee Graham led in hitting with 7 kills. Eve Uecker led in blocks and setting with 1 block and 3 assists. Kacee Moore led defensively with 5 digs.

Spartans fail to rein in the Fillies

On Sept. 14, the Spartan volleyball team traveled to Colstrip to take on the Fillies. The Spartans proved they could play with the Fillies in the first set, but came up short (25-27) in an exciting round of play. The Spartans couldn’t keep up with the Fillies, losing the next two sets, (15-25), (14-25). “We are a young team and make many mistakes. We are working hard in practice to overcome our weaknesses,” commented the senior volleyball players.

Sophia Dulin led the Spartans with 2 aces and also had 1 dig. Sady Harbaugh led in hitting with 8 kills. She also had 1 ace and 7 digs. Macee Hadley led in blocking and setting with 1 block and 14 assists. She also had 1 kill and picked up 4 digs. Shelby Moore led defensively with 13 digs. She also had 1 ace and 3 kills. Halle Burdick had 1 kill and 11 digs. Katie Wang had 1 ace, 5 kills, and 4 digs. Mya Hadley had 1 kill, 1 assist, and 2 digs. Peyton Janeway had 2 kills and 2 digs. Macy Varner had 6 digs and Emily Shumaker had 1 dig. The Spartans hope to improve their record as they travel to Lame Deer this Friday, Sept. 20 to compete in a double header with both Lame Deer and Lodge Grass. Saturday, they will see lots of action as they travel to Huntley Project to compete in their annual tournament.

JV

Sophia Dulin also led serving for the JV with 3 aces. Emily Shumaker led in hitting with 5 kills. She also led in blocks with Anika Ploeger and Camryn Collins each having 2. Rilee Peterson led in setting with 13 assists. Harlee Graham led defensively with 14 digs.

C-Squad

Sets: (19-25) (20-25) (5-15)

Eve Uecker led the team in serving and on defense with 2 aces and 9 digs. She also led in blocking with Makala Gallegos each having 1 block, and in setting with Kacee Moore, each of them having 4 assists. Harlee Graham led in hitting with 5 kills.
