Last weekend on July 26 and July 27 the Baker Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture held their annual Crazy Days event, a weekend of socializing, shopping, and now sports!
This year, the Baker of Chamber Commerce held a 3 on 3 basketball tournament in downtown Baker on Friday in conjunction with the Crazy Days sales. The tournament boasted a good turnout with a total of 17 teams. The winning teams from each division received cooling towels as prizes. The winner of the 3rd-4th grade boys and girls division was a team made up of Canden Coulter, Blake Enos, and Morgan Hurley. A team made up of Avery O’Connor, Karlee Dyke, and Mickellyn Walker took first place in the 5th-6th grade girls division. The 5th-8th grade division was won by the Bowman Girls team.
The 3 on 3 tournament seemed to bring more Baker residents downtown and more people from out of town to Baker for Crazy Days, according to some of the Chamber retailers. “I thought it was great,” said Merri Beck, a Chamber member and the owner of Russell’s Clothing. “There were out of towners in for the 3 on 3 tournament and locals were out and about too.”
“I hope to do it again next year,” said Alissa Miller, a board member for the Baker Chamber of Commerce. “I think it went really well.”
Along with the 3 on 3 tournament this year had another fun new event: a bike parade. On Saturday morning roughly fifteen kids showed up outside of Mom’s Laundry to show off their decorated bikes in the bike parade as they rode them down to the Reynold’s parking lot where they ended with a sweet treat!
