The Baker School Music Department will be presenting a “Farewell, Begin the Tour” Performance on Monday June 10, 9:30 a.m. in the courtyard at Baker High School. Students will be performing a number of selections which they have prepared for performances in Chicago. Everyone is welcome–bring your own chair!!
On June 10, members of the Baker High School Band and Choir depart for Chicago! This six-day trip begins with those attending, leaving from Baker High School at 12 p.m. From there, they’ll travel through the night with the expectation that they’ll be arriving in Chicago early Tuesday, June 11.
Chicago was chosen as the destination for this trip after the students took a survey. One aspect of this trip is that both the band and choir will have the opportunity to perform in Chicago. The choir is scheduled to sing at the 360 Chicago, and the band will play their music during the opening ceremony at Six Flags amusement park. This will be a great opportunity for those attending to experience what it’s like performing with unfamiliar and larger areas and crowds. These performances will certainly be memorable for those participating.
This trip isn’t all work, however. Several interesting and fun events are scheduled throughout the six-day trip for the students to enjoy as well. Some of these scheduled events include: exploring the Navy Pier, going on the Wendella River Cruise, visit the Field Museum of Natural History, watch Our Blue Planet in IMAX, and shopping at stores along the Magnificent Mile.
This fun and exciting trip will end with the students heading back to Baker on June 14 at 10 p.m. They’re expected to arrive in Baker around 5 p.m. on June 15.
To those going to Chicago: enjoy the trip, and good luck with the performances! It will surely be one to remember.
