National Honor Society Induction

Paul On May 8, Plevna’s National Honor Society Chapter inducted four new members: Dacy Buerkle, Jenna Paul, Ashley Sander and Trinity Rieger. The ceremony opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by current NHS member Jessica Paul. Following the pledge, Mrs. Phelps, adviser, gave a short introduction speech explaining the steps the candidates completed to be accepted into the NHS. Ms. Boyer discussed Scholastic responsibilities; Mrs. Sparks advised the students about Service, which involves committing to the idea of volunteering one’s time and abilities to the creation of a better tomorrow. Mrs. Robertus instructed the students on Leadership by striving to train and aid others through sacrifice of your own personal interests for the interest of others. Mrs. Schumacher shared remarks on Character, which helps each of us achieve individuality by demonstrating such qualities as respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Mr. Schumacher spoke to the inductees touching on the qualities needed for a member to be inducted into the National Honor Society. Mrs. Phelps and Mr. Schumacher presented the newly inducted members their honorary pins, after which Mrs. Phelps closed the ceremony.
