A Michigan native known by his friends and family as Matthew Shafer will be coming to Baker this August to rock the Fallon County Fair.
The singer-songwriter Uncle Kracker has been a big name in the rock and country communities since his career took off in June of 2000 with his first solo album titled “Double Wide”, peaking at number seven on the Billboard 200 chart and went 2x Multi-Platinum in November of 2001. Kid Rock produced this renowned album that has what is arguably Uncle Kracker’s most well known hit “Follow Me” on it.
Matthew Shafer started his new found career after visiting a night club in Clawson, Michigan where his older brother, Mike Shafer, was competing against a man who is now known as Kid Rock in a turntables competition. Matthew and Kid Rock became friends and in 1994 Kid Rock asked him to join his band. Uncle Kracker performed with Kid Rock as a turntablist for his band Twisted Brown Trucker prior to his solo career.
Following the tour and fame that “Double Wide” brought, Uncle Kracker hit the studio again to release “No Stranger to Shame” in 2002, followed by “Seventy Two and Sunny” in 2004, “Happy Hour” in 2009, and “Midnight Special” in 2012.
Other big hitting singles include “Drift Away”, “Smile”, “Memphis Soul Song”, “Whiskey & Water”, and his more recent 2018 hit “Floatin’”.
Don’t miss the chance to watch Uncle Kracker perform at the 2019 Fallon County Fair on Saturday, August 17 in Baker.
