Community welcomes the new Runnings store

Runnings hosted the Grand Opening of its new store, located on Highway 12, on April 26 – 28. The purpose of moving into a larger store is to ensure that they can carry more product for their customers as well as to better support the community.

The chilly Friday morning began with a ribbon cutting held inside to keep everybody out of the cold. Runnings associates, Mayor Pratt, and members of the Baker Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture joined in the ribbon cutting, welcoming the new store to our community. “The majority of the board was there, and we got to take part in the ribbon cutting,” explained Karol Zachmann, Baker Chamber of Commerce’s treasurer. “They’re our newest member.”

The rest of the weekend was followed up with more excitement as customers filed in and out of the new store to have a look at it, enjoy cookies and coffee as well as snack tastings, and even sign up for door prizes including a kayak, a fire pit, a side by side and several other items. Friday and Saturday members of 4-H joined to serve a hotdog lunch with all proceeds going to 4-H.

Currently, what previously served as the store for the Baker Runnings location is still serving its purpose for the store. Runnings still has a lease, so for the time being they will use that building for storage. Community members who weren’t able to make it to the opening are still welcomed and encouraged to head down and take a look at the new store.
