By Jessica Paul

On March 20, Plevna FCCLA members and adviser, Mrs. Robertus, traveled to Bozeman to compete at the 72nd Annual State Leadership Conference. On Thursday, Jenna Paul participated in several different workshops designed for incoming state officers. While Jenna attended workshops, Jaiden Dulin, Jaeda Paul, Dacy Buerkle and Jessica Paul attended the College and Career Readiness Fair. That night was the opening session of the FCCLA State Leadership Conference. Guest speaker Jessie Funk spoke to the members of FCCLA about succeeding through emotional intelligence and resilience. Toxic people in our lives can play a role in keeping us from reaching our true potential, while “Breathers” help us to find our limits and exceed them.

On Friday, Chapter members arose early to compete in their events. Jaeda Paul and Jaiden Dulin competed in Entrepreneurship, and received a Bronze Medal. Dacy Buerkle and Jessica Paul competed in National Programs in Action; they made it to the Top Five and received a Gold Medal. They also attended workshops on Teen Dating Violence, Stopping Hunger, Preparing for College, and Taking down Tobacco. Jenna continued working with the past officer team as an incoming state officer, she and Dacy also had the chance to participate in District Officer training. That night was the closing session of the State Leadership Conference, and Jenna Paul was inducted into the State Executive Council as the Vice President of Membership. Congratulations to everyone who competed!
