On February 12, the Council on Aging in Baker hosted an open house at the Baker Senior Center to honor long-time employee Carla Brown, the Coordinator for the Council on Aging. Carla was named Citizen of the Year for the work she’s done for the community and going above and beyond her call of duty for the Council on Aging.
Susan Newell, a board member of the Council on Aging, helped spearhead the event for the community to come together and congratulate Brown. The open house began at 2 P.M. with a speech given by Betty Mueller, council president, followed by refreshments in a relaxed and social setting.
As the event winded to an end, folks who attended finished up their cookies and coffee and gave a final congratulations to Brown before scurrying back out into the February cold. “I think the turn out was good,” said Newell.
