Wesley W. Madsen passed away peacefully on Oct. 20, 2018.
Wes was born on Aug. 9, 1937 to Chris and Norma (Scott) Madsen in Savage Mont. He grew up in Savage, graduating from Savage High School. He worked in his father’s hardware store and did auto body work.
Wes met the love of his life, Annabelle Johnson, and they were married on June 6, 1959. On Oct. 6, 1959 he was drafted into the Army. He was deployed to Germany. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Wes and Ann lived in Glendive Mont., where he did more auto body work. Two sons were born while living there. In 1968, Wes moved his family to Little Beaver, MDU Gas plant. While there, another son and daughter were born, completing their family. Later Wes and his family moved into Baker, where he continued working for MDU/WBI until he retired. Wes and Ann lived out the rest of their lives in Baker.
Wes hobbies included hunting, fishing, garage selling and woodworking. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He attended church services at the Baker Assembly of God Church for 50 years, rarely missing a service. In his last months Wes enjoyed independence, daily trips to the local stores, Sunday breakfast at Red River Inn, visiting with his neighbors on the front porch and waving to friends as they drove by. He was very proud of his solar lights, keeping his yard brightly lit.
Wes was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ann; his parents; brother Elver Madsen; sister Vera “Mugs Ler and nephew Bruce Madsen.
Wes is survived by his children: Glen Madsen, Miles City, Mont.; Ken Madsen, Miles City, Mont.; Roy (Suzie) Madsen, Baker, Mont.; and Cindy (Ryan) Erickson, Butte, Mont.; sister Verna Bliesmer, Dunnell, Minn.; 9 grandchildren and spouses; 6 great grandchildren, Ann’s 3 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday Nov. 10, 2018 at the Baker Assembly of God Church, Baker Mont at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. Cremation has taken place and burial will be held at a later date.
