Donald Holtz, age 88, of Miles City passed away on Oct. 20, 2018 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.
Don was born on Dec. 25, 1930 in Ismay, Mont., the youngest of four children born to Clark and Elise (Baker) Holtz. He married Patricia L. Shumaker on Aug. 22, 1949 in Miles City, Mont. They had four children: Donella, Charlotte, Clark and Tammie. Don worked in the oilfield following oil over many states, moving back to Baker, Mont. in 1963. After leaving the oilfields, he went to work on ranches around eastern Montana. He also spent time driving truck out of Great Falls before returning to work on ranches. Following his retirement, he moved to Miles City then to Meeteetse, Wyo. before returning to Miles City where he has resided for the last eight years.
Don is survived by his daughters: Charlotte Haughian, Tammie Neill, son-in-law Jere Wheatley and daughter-in-law Barb Wheatley; brothers-in-law: Gene (Cathy) Shumaker and Jerry (Dianne) Shumaker; his grandchildren: Jon and Elizabeth Wheatley, Cory and Sheri Wheatley, Trent Haughian, Dawn Sanchez, Cody Neill and Justin Neill; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia of 61 years, his daughter Donella, son Clark and all of his sisters, brothers and many of his friends.
