Kaytlynn Gaub attended the Montana State 4-H Horse Show on September 14-16 at the Heart K Arena in Livingston, Mont. This was her first year attending the state 4-H show with over 150 exhibitors. She competed in Western Level 2, English Level 2, and Intermediate age 11-13 year olds for showmanship, trail, western equitation, English equitation, and barrels and pole bending over the three days. Competition was tough and there were a lot of very talented horses and riders alike. Kaytlynn placed 4th in English, 5th in Showmanship, and 7th in both barrels and poles. Overall she said, “my favorite part was competing in my English saddle against a large group of riders and doing so well and also watching all the other competitors. I learned a lot and hope I can go again and would love more kids from Fallon County to go because I think it would be even more fun”. Kaytlynn had a great support group of family at the show, as well as others locally that loaned her show clothes and a show saddle before she left that she is very grateful for. She is planning to work on her and her horse’s skills over the next year with what she learned and put them to use at the next show and possibly try a new event.
