A funeral service for Adeline Bertsch, 91, of Baker was held July 23, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Baker with Pastor Levi Durfey officiating. Burial followed in Bonnievale Cemetery in Baker.

Adeline passed away July 16, 2013 at Quality Personal Care in Baker.

Adeline Bertsch was born May 14, 1922 in Venturia, N.D., the daughter of Philip and Mary (Sayler) Dockter. She grew up and attended country school. In September 1946, Adeline married Herbert Bertsch in Venturia. To this union Patty, Lois, Edie, John and Tim were born.

Adeline was a country school teacher in North Dakota and a bookkeeper for Conoco Oil. She also worked for JC Penney, L. Price Company, and the Baker Library. She liked to volunteer for the Pinkies and blood draws. All her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. They always put a smile on her face as she would put one on theirs.

Adeline was a member of the First Baptist Church for 67 years. She served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the church choir, participated in the Ladies Mission Circle, and helped as a taxi driver.

Adeline is survived by her daughter Patricia Beck of Calif., son Timothy (Kathy) Bertsch of La.; two sisters, Hulda Dockter and Irene Dockter, of Baker; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Mary Dockter; husband, Herbert Bertsch; two daughters, Edith Flint and Lois Afrank; one son, John Bertsch; one grandson, Brandon Bertsch; and one brother, Milton Dockter.

    She was one of the friendliest ladies at First Baptist Church. As a newly married young woman ,new to Baker, she made me feel at home.
    So gracious and such a bubbly personality. She will be missed.
