The Baker Lions Club recently sold raffle tickets to raise money to provide funds to purchase a generator for the emergency shelter at the fairgrounds and we are also in the process of receiving a Disaster Grant from Lions Club International to help fund the purchase as well. The drawing was held on March 19. Third place prize was a $400 meat bundle from Hanging W Meats won by Monica Stark, second prize was a 50 quart and 12 quart Yeti coolers won by Neil Moore and first prize were three rifles won by Dave Breitbach.

Next week, Baker Lions will be at this year’s annual Health Fair on Wednesday, April 26 collecting used eye glasses, used hearing aids and performing eye exams to the public. We will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the local food bank and doing a White Cane fundraiser. This year and in previous years the Lions Club has provided Bingo to the public every other Sunday from January thru May. The monies that are received from bingo go to support two graduating seniors, one Plevna and one Baker, with $500 scholarships annually.

Baker Lions Club organizes meaningful community service projects to make a significant impact on the people they serve. Lions clubs have offered opportunities to give back to communities and help those in need since 1917. They are unique by choosing their own projects and activities to fit the lifestyles of its members and benefit their community the most.

If you are interested in learning more about the Baker Lions Club or getting involved in supporting the community, please feel free to come to a meeting and see what we are all about.  The meetings take place the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at Thee Garage Steakhouse. Please contact Norton Walker at 406-971-5667 or Patti Brookes at 406-778-2070 or 406-778-6017 for further information.
