The Baker High School Junior Class transformed the Longfellow gymnasium into an underwater

wonderland for the annual prom themed “Enchanted Atlantis” that was held on April 1.

Sixty-five couples danced the night away ‘under the sea’ to music by DJ Vaughn Zenko and Jessica Fredrick as they rocked the turntables and spinned the tunes of electronic dance music (EDM), hip hop and country. The highlight of the evening was when the entire dance floor was full as the group did a full on-line-dance stepping to the tune “Cotton-Eye Joe.”

The EDM trap music was something new to the prom scene as the hypnotic sounds, currently in vogue, resounded across the gym.

Nobody went hungry as they danced throughout the night because the junior class provided a table of fun underwater snacks: a beautifully decorated cake, a veggie platter in the shape of a fish, Swedish fish, saltwater taffy, Goldfish Crackers, a meat and cheese tray. The underwater environment must have made everyone thirsty because the students consumed 10 cases of water throughout the night.

All eyes were on the prom candidates as Junior Class president Madison Reddick crowned the king, Cleet Wrzesinski, who in turn crowned Megan Greiff as the 2017 Prom Queen.

The Junior Class advisors are teachers Carol Bettenhausen and Jill Myhre.
