The weather changes everything

Seems just a few short days ago we were prancing through the autumn like the ‘cat that swallowed the canary.’ The last days of fall were unseasonably warm.  Then just like the party balloon that over fills with  just one more puff of air, suddenly –bang! .. taking everyone by surprise… along came winter.

Winter didn’t come in this year with a whimsical display of dancing snowflakes drifting lazily from the sky, but instead like darts propelling through the gusty, cold raw winds. Old Man Winter had unleashed an arctic air front to roll across the prairie freezing anything sitting in one spot for too long.

How quickly the weather changes everything. Now is the time to hunker down to keep warm.  It’s a time to plan ahead, let that vehicle warm up before making a slippery drive across town. Be prepared for the unexpected.

For many individuals, winter is a welcomed season.  Many people are more content when confined indoors at work, at home, or even in a hospital room which somehow seems more tolerable during the cold days of winter. Indoors, a nice warm, cozy place to be tucked away from the freezing cold winter.

Long johns, beards, hats, mittens and winter coats are the new fashion trend and the necessities of life in this most cold of seasons.

The home hearth is never as inviting as in the cold, harsh days of winter.  To enter into the shelter of one’s home and be engulfed by warmth is a welcome reprieve. Whether coming in from a long day of working in the out of doors, or just coming in from that cross country commute, in a car which only minutes before was a frozen metal shell with frosted-over glass windows, the warm glow of the lights in your home bids a warm welcome home and  is always a nice reception.

Be safe, keep warm and take time to realize just how the weather changes everything.
