The weather outside was frightful….but the chili was so delightful…let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. The Chamber of Commerce annual Christmas Stroll held on Dec. 7 in downtown Baker was challenged by cold, blustery winter weather in comparison to years past.

Although the Parade of Lights was cancelled, the community chili feed took place as usual, at the festively decorated Thee Garage Showroom. According to Karol Zachmann, spokesperson for Friends of FMC Foundation, “Our numbers were slightly down this year, but not by much.” The group, which has hosted the feed for the third year now, served approximately 200 people in comparison to the 300 served last year. Zachmann stated, “We usually serve five roasters full of chili. This year we dished out three roasters full.”

Donations collected at the feed will be used to purchase waiting room chairs. Many of the cushioned chairs in the clinic seating area were destroyed in the hailstorm in July, when glass from broken windows   embedded into the cushions.
