Help families in Fallon County who are short this year on finances have a joyous Christmas by donating to the Christmas Wishes Program.
By Sherry Vogel
The program that is in its 13th year was established by the Baker Recreation Program in conduction with Baker Gamma Beta Sorority to help less fortunate children in our community experience the joy of Christmas while uniting the members of our community in a common cause of investing in our youth.
The group believes that every child should have a Christmas to celebrate and their vision of peace on earth and goodwill toward men includes a gift under every tree.
Throughout the year they accept monetary donations to the Christmas Wishes account set up at the Bank of Baker to be used toward winter outerwear, clothing, toys and most other Christmas wish requests.
The program which in the past has benefited 30-50 children each Christmas, prefers monetary donations so that they can buy specifically for each child. They do the shopping themselves to preserve the anonymity of each child.
Families in need, may fill out a form that is sent home with all elementary students or they can download a form from the Recreation Dept. page at www.falloncounty.net and mail them to Christmas Wishes at P.O. Box 181, Baker, Mont., 59313. All correspondence is kept in utmost confidentiality.
If you would like to contribute to this worthy cause you may make a donation to the Christmas Wishes account set up at the Bank of Baker.
The program also accepts gift-wrapping supplies. Wrapping supplies may be dropped off at the Recreation Department in the Library Basement.
*Christmas Wishes is a separate operation from Christmas Giving Tree which is set up in the Reynold’s Market.
