First snow

It came down gently that

   first snow

By Prairie Singer

It came down gently that

   first snow

But not until November.

We’re so glad to have the

   moisture

Before it was December.

It gently stacked up on the

   limbs

And crevasses and gravel.

It wasn’t enough to hinder

  us

Or impede work and travel.

So we expect a change of

   seasons

When autumn comes

   around.

With a brilliant full moon up

   above

The cycle goes around.

I never understood the moon

In spite of explanations

But I’ve always been

   impressed

With the brilliant animation.

Only God could put in orbit

The fullness and the glory

Reminding humans way

   down here

Of His creation story.
