Stacey Sterns has been sentenced to the Montana Department of Corrections for a term of 13 months for placement in an appropriate rehab program following his fourth arrest while operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .08% or greater. He was also sentenced to the Montana Department of Corrections for a term of four years, all suspended. The sentence will run consecutively to the initial 13 months sentence.
Sterns was arrested in April, 2015 after he was observed driving erratically down Montana Avenue weaving within his driving lane making short abrupt steering corrections. An open beer can was in the center console of his truck and he admitted he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The Court imposed a fine of $20 for the seatbelt violation and $100 for Possession of an Open Alcoholic Beverage in Vehicle on Highways, both misdemeanors. The Court imposed a $1,000 fine and surcharges for the felony count.
Sterns will have to stay at a correctional rehabilitation center and if he successfully completes the residential program, the remainder of the 13 month sentence can be served on probation under supervision of the Adult Probation/Parole Bureau.
