Anna Espeland has been selected to represent Baker High School as a delegate to the 2016 session of American Legion Auxiliary Girls State. Anna is the daughter of Lisa and David Espeland of Baker.
American Legion Auxiliary Girls State will be held from Sunday, June 12 to Saturday, June 18, 2016 on the campus of Carroll College in Helena. It is a government studies program for girls who have completed their junior year of high school. Each delegate will have the opportunity to learn firsthand that government is just what she makes it.
Citizens of Girls State will not only review knowledge already acquired concerning the political machinery in the State, but they will perform exactly the same duties as real office holders in the every day world.
Delegates will elect their own officers in the manner prescribed by Montana election procedure. They will set up their own city governments and pass and enforce their own city ordinances. Delegates will also organize their own legislature where they will present and argue their own bills.
The Fallon Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring Anna as a delegate to American Legion Auxiliary Girls State.
