Jacob Hadley, senior at Billings Central Catholic High School, has been named the 2016 Midland Roundtable Male Athlete of the Year at the event banquet May 18 in Billings. Jacob is the son of Justin and Brook (Gundlach) Hadley of Billings, and grandson of Robin and Rich Menger and Jack and Carolyn Hadley and great-grandson of Leland Gundlach and Ruth Deviney, all of Baker.
The Midland Round Table recognizes the top five male and five female senior athletes from all four Billings high schools for their athletic accomplishments as well as student and community involvement. From the ten finalists, one male and one female is selected Athlete of the Year.
Jacob is a three sport athlete. In football, his achievements earned him three-time All-Conference, two-time All-State, Great Falls Tribune Super State Team, All-USA Montana Football Team, East-West Shrine Game (to be played in Butte June 18), Badlands Bowl Game (to be played in Dickinson July 16), MVP and team captain.
In basketball, he was two-time All-Conference, All-State, All-State Tourney Team, team captain and has been chosen to play in the Montana-Wyoming All-Star Series June 10-11 in Sheridan, WY (June 10, and Billings (June 11).
In this, his first season of track and field, Jacob competes in long, triple and high jump. He currently has the highest mark in the state in high jump with a jump of 6’ 6 1/4” and will compete in all three events at the State A Track Meet in Bozeman May 27-28. Jacob has also been named Academic All-State all four years of high school with a 4.0 GPA.
Jacob’s future plans are to attend Montana State University-Bozeman on a football scholarship and study financial engineering.
