O’Fallon Museum mysteries

This mystery is a puzzling one.

By Sherry Vogel

The gadget pictured above has a 5.8 inch black and orange cloth covered cord which has a metal attachment on each end. The smaller end has a female connector which screws onto a source (heat?), while the other larger end has round ball on the top with holes all around. The large end of the attachment is darker due to high heat (?).
