Each year the elementary students celebrate reading during February. This year, instead of the usual I Love to Read Week festivities, the students will be participating in special activities throughout the whole month. All students K-12 will experience DEAR – “Drop Everything And Read” – each week in February. When an announcement is made during the school day students will spend 15 minutes reading a book.

On the first Wednesday in February, each WIN (What I Need) time teacher read a book or poem to the students. The next Wednesday was “Pajama Day” to celebrate reading under the covers. On the third Wednesday, February 17, students will dress up as their favorite character or president, and they will read books about these people. Finally, on Monday the 22nd, students will practice for “A Taste of Reading”, which will be performed the next day at parent/teacher conferences.
