Miles City’s Shop & Dine Event

Miles City will be the site of the season’s largest shopping, dining, entertainment and charity event – promoting a “buy local and support local businesses” message Saturday, November 21. Over 70 businesses  – retail merchants, restaurants, coffee shops, home-based businesses, and service organizations are involved in Miles City’s Shop & Dine Event.

“Miles City is open for business, and we’d like to see more folks from the region do their holiday shopping in Miles City to keep the business in the region,” said Jackie Muri, CFRE, CGPA, MSL, Holy Rosary Healthcare Foundation Executive Director. “We have an excellent business community that offers friendly service, great selection, and easy access. And we’re certainly interested in keeping more business within the region this holiday season and all year!”

Here’s how the event works. Local businesses come together to offer special sales for a one-day event that gives people many reasons to be in town for the weekend. In Miles City, over 70 locally owned retail businesses, restaurants, coffee shops, and home-based businesses have partnered on this event. Maps will be available online at the Holy Rosary Healthcare Foundation page and in partnering Miles City businesses November 18 showcasing the hours, locations, special sales, and related details of all partnering businesses.

The Shop and Dine Event brings together the concept of supporting local business and advancing local charity.

“Our 70 business partners for this event are gifting ten percent of their daily sales on the 21st to support the Holy Rosary Foundation and over 70 charity projects in the ten-county region,” commented Muri. “When you shop locally, you support local business owners who reinvest locally. Plus, our partners have gifted over $1,000 in door prizes which will be awarded to people who attend the event.”

Extra events that are garnering regional attention are also planned including a shopping expo at the Miles City Town & Country Club, 10 am to 4 pm, featuring over 30 home-based businesses and a Cat-Griz football game party beginning at noon at the T&C Club and a few other locations in town. The partnering restaurants have specials all day and a few restaurants and taverns are offering live music Saturday evening. Complete details are available online at the Holy Rosary Healthcare Foundation’s Facebook page or by calling 406-233-4043.

Muri added, “We have a rich offering with business sales starting at 6 am and running through midnight. We invite the region to Miles City for all day or just a part of it; enjoy all the community has to offer. We certainly appreciate the business in Miles City.”

The inaugural event occurred last year with strong attendance and over 50 local businesses participating. The event is modeled after highly successful events in suburban communities near Denver and Minneapolis. In Montana, a few western Montana cities have hosted similar events that bring together local businesses, shoppers, and charity during the busiest shopping season of the year.
