Spencer Losing and Student Council Advisor Terry Curry traveled to Great Falls Oct. 18-20 to attend the Montana Association of Student Councils State Convention which was held at the University of Great Falls-MSU.
Highlights of the conference were keynote speakers Scott Backovich, Harriet Turk, and Judson Lapley. Each speaker gave a motivational and meaningful presentation on keeping the electricity going throughout the year in the students’ own high schools and student councils.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is the state charity for Montana student councils. Each school contributes to the fund. Baker High School and Middle School donated the second largest amount in the state, which was $834.06; that includes Class AA schools to Class C schools. Spencer Losing accepted the award from Ms. Jane Suberg, State Executive Director.
Oct. 20, a banquet was held and awards were presented. Spencer Losing, District VI President, had the privilege of presenting Ms. Terry Curry with the District VI Advisor of the Year Award. Advisor of the Year is an award given by each district in the state. The District Advisor of the Year is selected at the Spring District Convention, which was held in Ekalaka last March. Advisors are honored for being active in local, state, and National Student Council activities.
