Baker Spartans end football season

   The Baker Spartans traveled to Fairfield Nov. 14 to take on the undefeated Eagles in the Class B semi-final playoff game.

   The first quarter started and ended fast just like the Eagles, as they scored two touchdowns to get up on the Spartans early with a 14-0 lead.

   In the second quarter, the Fairfield defense held Baker scoreless as they continued to extend the score to make it a 35-0 score going into halftime.

   During the third quarter, the Spartan defense stood strong and held the Eagles scoreless, keeping it a 35-0 game at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

   In the first seconds of the fourth, Fairfield broke loose and ran in for another Eagle touchdown to make it a 42-0 lead. Baker showed a lot of heart and teamwork as they drove down the field and Joe Fisher added a six yard touchdown run; the two point conversion to Austin Braun was good to make the final score 42-8.

   Offensively, rushing -Luke Gonsioroski was 19-69 yards, Joe Fisher 11-36 yards and a  TD; team was 31-93 yards. Passing – Luke Gonsioroski was 10-22 112 yards; receiving – Austin Braun was 6-68 yards, Jordan Baxter 1-22 yards, Nic Bohle 1-7 yards, and Kadon Gentilini 1-5 yards.

   Defensively, tackles – Matt Packer 16, Luke Gonsioroski 13, and Andrew Craft 12; interceptions – Luke Gonsioroski 1.

   The Spartans finished this season with a 3B Conference Championship and made the final four with a record of 9-2.
