Runners and walkers around the community will have the opportunity to stay in shape, help a good cause and have a lot of fun during a 5K run/walk scheduled in Baker.

The Spartan 5K Run/Walk is being held Saturday, Aug. 22, in an effort to raise proceeds for the Loretta Dapkiewicz Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Spencer Losing started the run/walk last year as a way to raise funds for a trip to Europe. This year he says the cause is for a better reason. “This is a way to get the community involved in something important,” Losing said.
The run/walk will be non-competitive as no times will be recorded. Participants can be any age and may run or walk the course according to their ability. The run/walk will start at the Baker High School track and follow a set course through the streets of Baker. Registration is onsite at 7:30 a.m. and the run/walk will start at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $10 and participants will receive a T-shirt and water bottle.
