Mid-Rivers Communications announced the recipients of 35 $1,000 Higher Education Scholarships.
Among the winners were three Baker students and one Plevna student.
High school seniors attending a tech school, community college, or four year universities scholarship winners from Baker were Stephanie Heaps – hopes to become an elementary teacher by studying at MSU-Billings; Solenn Jacobsen – plans to become a nurse, a career she will study for at Carroll College; Jase Rost – plans to continue his education by attending MSU-Bozeman.
Current College Student Scholarship winner was Tiffany Benner, Plevna. She plans to further her education at Dickinson State University to double major in business finance and human resource management.
Mid-Rivers will also award 12 additional $500 scholarships to area students through a drawing at the Cooperative’s Annual Meeting May 27 at the Winnett High School in Winnett. Thanks to the generosity of former Mid-Rivers Trustee Kevin Braun, an additional $1,000 in drawing scholarships will be awarded at this year’s annual meeting over previous years.
To qualify for the scholarship drawing, the student must:
* Attend the annual meeting with a parent or guardian who is a member of the Cooperative;
* Be enrolled to attend a higher education institution in the fall of 2015;
* Provide proof of full-time enrollment at the annual meeting.
* Sign up at the scholarship registration table at the annual meeting; and
* Be present during the business meeting when the drawing takes place.
Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and close at the start of the business meeting at 1 p.m. Previous Mid-Rivers scholarship winners are not eligible for the scholarship drawing. Students unsure of their parent/guardian’s membership status with the Cooperative should call Mid-Rivers prior to the annual meeting for verification.
