FFA  banquet

The awards banquet for FFA was held April 24 with the meeting called to order by president Ike Nemitz, followed by the opening ceremony by the Chapter officers.

The invocation was given by guest speaker Todd Lackman, 2015-2016 State Treasurer. The meal of pork loin, potatoes and gravy, green beans with cheese was made by Rita Nemitz.

   After the meal, the FFA Creed spoken by Chase Drange, Isaac Nemitz, Taylor Bertsch, and Layne Silver-Farris was given. Reports were given by various members on the FFA Camp, Officer Retreat, District Leadership School, JD Ag Expo, National Convention, Fall and Spring Districts, Melstone and State Convention.

   Chapter Foundation Award recipients were as follows: Discovery Degree – Jessica Paul, Colter Peterson, Cole Edgell, Sean Shelhamer. Jessica Paul received the Star Discovery. Greenhand Degree – Isaac Nemitz, Layne Silver-Farris, and Taylor Rieger. Isaac Nemitz received the Star Greenhand. Chapter Degrees – Jake Edgell, Dylan Sander, Chris Skogas, and Jessica Stockett.

   The Most Active FFA member was Chase Drange, Top SAE Program – Isaac Nemitz, Top Shop Hand – Chris Skogas, Top High School Sales Person – Isaac Nemitz, and Top Junior High Sales Person – Jessica Paul.

  Chapter Appreciation Awards were given to Bumble Bee Floral – Amber Lawlar for helping teach students how to arrange flowers as well as supplying flowers for the Spring District competition; West Plains, Inc. for buying the FFA Scholarship at the county fair and providing a Case sprayer for judging at the Spring District; Bank of Baker – Norton Walker for providing the awards and medals for District Competition; and Sparks Herefords – Tom and Carol Sparks for helping with the Spring District held at Plevna.

   Guest speaker Todd Lackman spoke on challenging yourself to try something new, be active, learn something and have fun. The banquet was enjoyed by all, and it was fun ot hear what the Plevna FFA Chapter had accomplished this year.

   2015-2016 Chapter officers are as follows: president Isaac Nemitz, first vice president Jacob Edgell, second vice president Dylan Sander, secretary Jessica Paul, reporter Taylor Bertsch, treasurer Chase Drange, sentinel Cole Edgell, historian Taylor Bertsch, parliamentarian Ryan Perfater.
